Wedding trends come and go. Cupcakes have replaced three-tiered cakes, flowered hairpieces are being worn instead of long veils and colors like teal and cherry red are being chosen as the color palette to accent a bride’s big day. Who knows how long these things will stick around, but one new trend, in my opinion, is here to stay.
I am completely in love with different hued dresses for bridesmaids.
Whether the dresses are vibrant shades of orange or purple or subdued tones of blue or brown, they can better symbolize a bridesmaid’s style. Everyone is a different shape and size. A strapless dress may not look good on a bustier friend, and a halter doesn’t flatter broad shoulders. Allowing your friend to pick out her own dress ensures she will be comfortable and confident, which is especially important if she’s shelling out her own dough for it.
I could go on about all the benefits of having each bridesmaid wear a different color and/or style of dress, but I’ll stick to two more. First, the pictures will be absolutely amazing. With all the different colors and styles, you can be sure none of your photos will be a bore to look at. Second, allowing bridesmaids to shop for their own dresses takes pressure off the bride to choose the correct style and color that best accentuates a friend’s features.

Bridal shrugs and boleros have received crazy amounts of attention lately, so of course I wanted to get in on the action! I am more than loving the feminine yet fashion-forward look created by these little treasures. A common misconception: shrugs equal winter, cabin weddings and fur. So not true! A thin layer of fabric over the shoulders is more than welcome at summer weddings, especially for beach settings!
Shrugs have the ability bedazzle, accentuate or tone down a bride’s wedding dress. She can pick between an abundance of styles, ranging from beads to ruffles and tiers to flower appliqués. If you don’t love the shrug and wedding dress combination, consider using one to dress up a rehearsal or reception outfit.

When most brides think of their wedding day, they imagine themselves walking down the aisle in a floor-length gown. Whether it’s decorated with beads, lace, feathers or nothing at all, long dresses have been the most popular choice by far.
At True Bliss Events, we are here to tell you long gowns are not the end-all when it comes to wedding dresses. Many designers are creating equally extravagant short and tea length dresses to make a bride’s wedding day complete.
If you’re planning a destination or more informal wedding, or if you’re on a tight budget, consider looking into shorter dresses. They can add spunk and flare to any ceremony, whether it’s at a plush resort or country farm. Also, in comparison to long wedding gowns, shorter dresses often cost less because not as much work or material goes into making them. If a short gown doesn’t tickle your fancy, consider them as an option for your rehearsal dinner or reception!Take a look at these cuties I found from Sarah Seven, Carol Hannah (Yes, THE Carol Hannah from Project Runway) and Elizabeth Dye!

From left to right:
Hello, Hey, Hi!
My name is Stephanie Sarff and I’m proud to be True Bliss’ newest addition and first intern!
My life has not only been a personal fashion show, but my own little party as well. Knowing my enthusiasm for fashion and events, Anne suggested I put my two loves together and begin writing on a new topic for True Bliss’ blog: wedding style. You can only imagine my enthusiasm.
In my opinion, style isn’t just about a designer gown or a flowing veil on a bride’s wedding day. It is much, much more. Whether a bride is dressed in Versace or her grandmother’s gown from the 50s, style is all about owning a look. It is the confidence shown in her walk down the aisle on her big day, the look in her eyes as she kisses her new husband. Style is so much more than a price tag or designer label. It’s personal and everyone has their own.
For the next few months, you’ll be able to read my opinion on wedding style. I’ll write about everything from where to find affordable gowns to independent designers who’d love to help customize your perfect necklace. Before I get started however, I’ll tell you more about myself… just to give you an idea of who you’re dealing with.
I’m currently finishing my last quarter at Western Washington University, where I’m majoring in Public Relations and minoring in Psychology. I’ve always been a people person and figured PR would allow me to socialize for a living. I threw Psychology in there to better understand the people I socialize with.
My true loves are my family, friends, furry friends (pugs Mia and Marlo) and fun. I love fun so much I got the word tattooed on the right side of my body. Who does that, you may ask? My two best friends and me. Our rationale was that whatever you’re doing, wherever you are, decide to have fun. Every situation can be made a little better with a smile and positive attitude.
And that’s why I want to make a career out of event planning. I want to make sure people are having as much fun as humanely possible – whether it’s at a small cocktail party or a 400-person wedding. Sure I’m just getting started on this venture of mine, but I don’t plan on slowing down anytime soon. So stay tuned for my weekly wedding style tips and tricks. I may just help dress you, and help you find (and flaunt) your own personal style on your big day.
My glass is raised to you!
